Smile

Hi, just finished all my undergrad obligations(meaning I gave my last undergrad exam today)

DDP report submission looms large... Ever wonder why it is called submission?? Like you have to totally submit yourself before the almighty..(not god...your guide)

Neways heres something I found spread it around...

Smile

Smile!

Smiling is infectious,
You catch it like the flu.
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner,
and someone saw my grin.
When he smiled I realized,
I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile,
then I realized its worth.
A single smile just like mine,
could travel around the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,
don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
and get the world infected!

sent to me in a forward

Panther panther burning bright

As Ali said in his blog, yesterday was one of the most pantherous nights in the insti. multiple sightings by various people in a span of few hours.. and at close range no less..

brrrr... it gives me the shivers.. when I'd heard that the theme for the cultural fest here would be "welcome to the jungle", I didnt know that I was to take it literally...

Panther at IIT

That is a picture of a panther captured a few months ago. This one was hiding out in the refrigeration and steam power lab adjacent to my department.

There have been 11 deaths in powai region this month due to a maneating beast, just hoping that it doesn't take an ugly incident in the insti for the authorities to sit up and take notice of the grave situation.

Why couldn't I have had deers like IITM or peacocks like IITK or Connaught place in IITD... but noooooooooooo.... it had to be IITB with its feline inhabitants....

resolve....

to do ddp,
to see panther,
to remain alive to tell a tall story about panther.

Muhahahaha I have 1 GB

I have been getting lots of 1GB mailspaces recently. I stopped counting after 4 accounts. I mean my hard-disk is 40 gb and I feel thats too less. but 4 gb worth email space is enuff to last my family for generations to come.
Come to think of it, its a shrewd thing these service providers are doing. HD prices have never been so low what with people like SOAD using 320 gb hd with 50 gb solely dedicated to music .(Phew...thats a lot of songs....)

Me and Mahesh finally came through with our mobile fone buying plans. I haven't had many call though. will see. I would feel really irritated when I saw someone clutching their cellphones as if their life depended on it, playing endless games of snake. I solemnly resolve not to emulate them..and thats a scout's promise.

For all you shaayari lovers, heres something I came up with in a discussion

yahaan muh ki kadwaahat ko mitane ke liye..
kheer hi kaafi hai...
is tapish ki aag ko bujhane ke liye
beer hi kaafi hai...

an anology...

Getting rid of that bitter taste
is easy. Eat some honey dear.
Quench that thirst,Douse that fire,
just fill ur belly up with beer

I do manage to come up with pathetic pieces, don't I

will write later about my DDP (har har har)

Umbrella Time

Yes folks...its official.. Monsoon is here.. We've had incessant drizzle for about 2 days now. Ah... monsoon...the time for a cosy warm bed with a hot cup of tea and piping hot bajjis... the time to get drenched and play in mud.. the time to pilfer umbrellas from the constabulary a'la Bertie and jeeves.

But you soon get pissed off by the rain and pray for a rare glimpse of the sun.

But me...gimme tea and gimme bajjis...and i'm set for eternity..

My DDP first stage will be in another week so no more ramblings...

enjoy rains folks..

five point someone

Have been on a book reading spree... I just finishedFive point someone... People had already bought it and were raving abt it, so jumped the chance to borrow the book from Duh who asked me to finish it over the weekend. I finished it in 3 hours :D.
The book, I found was quite dark and depressing...but with everything working out in the end. That the three main characters were mechanical engineering students struck a chord in me somewhere.(Call me shallow, but I like such kind of connections)
Currently reading Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of maladies. Very deep, very entertaining. Haven't read short stories for a while so its a literary treat for me.

It was sairam's birthday the other day. And after beating the crap out of people on their birthdays and spending his own birthday safely at home for the last three years, we had finally trapped the fatso. We were not about to let go so easily either. Sairam pleaded with us as we had groveled before him on our birthdays. Mahesh in particular wanted to rip off the skin from his bottom. Seeing that his stronman tactics would only enthuse people to give more bumps, sairam opted for the senti method and was almost crying like a little girl. (We still gave him more bumps anyway :D).

What is it about food that it becomes so special here. Me had not dined, Bolli had not dined. So we decided to begborrowsteal 20 bux to eat, Champu gave us 10 times that amount and we still ended up spending all of it away. I did not like Prawns Biryani too much but that was partly because I was in no condition to eat spicy food. But food rules anytime.

Have to do a lot of work academically, what with my guide breathing down my neck and co-guide asking me read the entire library.. I find myself between a rock and a hard place... But then again, thats what is matkagiri isn't it?

Been there Done that

Not much time now...taking a break from studying for my quiz. We are supposed to mug 100 pages of absolutely unadultrated crap for a few marks. Just hoping that its worth it.

Have been doing stuff lately, upgraded to SUSE 9.1..thanks to Mahesh and Champu. I like this better than Mandrake.

Well I just put in some pictures of our wing treat on my homepage.Take a look

No messing around

Ya I joined my hostel summer mess.. Its kind of hard to eat outside without any money (ugh I hate that word)in your pockets, so I gave in to the demands. The food tasted ok I guess.

Its getting pretty lonely in the wing, what with Machi busy with his stock market giri and Bolli doing his summer job to earn money(theres that word again). Lets hope that its worth it.

I've been thinking of getting a mobile phone now, but the dreaded word is the barrier. So it will have to wait till stipend time.
